In 1997, the Wilbert and Chi Ching Woo set out to build a Website to promote their father's Chinese brush paintings. The two brothers found it wasn't that easy to create a Website. Some design firms charged way too much. Others didn't allow you to have control of the site, or the editing software was too hard to use. The brothers decided there should be a better way.

The brothers took classes, read books and even found a mentor to teach them to build professional looking sites. After that, they decided to form their own Web design and consulting company, so they could help small businesses create an online presence. The Woo's wanted to start a company that would provide easy to use tools for their customers at low prices. This was something they couldn't find when they first tried to build a Website.

In 1999, the Woo Brothers started their company and wanted a name that would reflect their Chinese cultural background. After getting together with friends to play mahjong, a Chinese game similar to bridge played with tiles, it came together. Someone declared that they had won the game and yelled "seekwoo la!" in Cantonese. The brothers realized the term meant something powerful.

Everything came into place. Our last name is Woo, and when people surf the net, they are seeking for something. It's a combination of mixing the old with the new: The philosophy of mah jong and the Internet.

Playing mah jong requires adapting to new environments, planning ahead and a little bit of luck. The game itself also brings people together with a common goal: to win. Seekwoo wants to give businesses the powerful tools needed to succeed and win on the Internet.
